Problems In Applying The Master Slide To All Slides In A Powerpoint Presentation

QUESTION: Dear Luigi,
I have attended one of your excellent Presentation workshops and I was truly impressed with the command you have of the topic and for how simple you have made for us the learning and mastering of so many tools and techniques in a matter of hours.
I have had one problem though which I have not been to solve by myself once I have gotten back to doing presentations on my own.

At times, I have created a master slide and decided to apply it to all the slides in an existing presentation. Unfortunately I am unable to make this feature work consistently across all situations. It seems that at times the Master Slide is correctly applied while on some other slides (in the same presentation) the original slides remain unchanged.
What am I doing wrong?

ANSWER: Dear François,
this is a typical problem reported by new users of PowerPoint and it is due to the fact that the Master Slide is created and applied when other slides are already in the presentation.
In this situation it is likely that individual slides will not respond to the formatting changes that the Master Slide should command.

To "force" the slides to behave and uniformly obey to the rules set out in the Master Slide, go the command Slide Layout and select "Reapply". This command will look up to the settings in the Master Slide and will implement them in the specific slide you are working on.
It is possible to do this at once for a group of slides by going into Slide Sorter mode and selecting all of the slides and then applying the Format -> Slide Layout -> Reapply command.
This will certainly solve your frustration.
