Presentation Production Steps
To create an effective presentation a number of steps are required. From initial conceptual planning to final presentation delivery, the steps to be taken to develop an effective presentation are all equally important and critical in affecting the final overall outcome. In the PowerPoint courses that I have been facilitating I have learnt to share with my students some 8 basic presentation steps to keep as a reference when working to create effective shows.
The steps are:
- Concept: design the approach and strategy by which to present the content
- Goal Setting: define objectives for evaluating final presentation effectiveness
- Outline: write all main presentation headings and concepts to be presented
- Content Inventory: gather all required content including body text, captions, callouts, images, diagrams, tables, photos, and maps
- Info map: list the sequence of the items and concepts that you will be presenting in a visual flowchart
- Design: develop a set of alternative visual designs that could be applied to different parts of the presentation
- Execution: execute, assemble and edit your final slides
- Presentation: run the final presentation in front of an audience
