Web-Based Presentations: SPresent - Video Review

2006 saw the possibilities for delivering powerful web presentations expand incredibly. Along with the ability to share PowerPoint slides over the web using technologies such as Slideshare, and the leaps and bounds made by Acrobat Connect in the field of screen-sharing and online collaboration, it has never been easier to create great looking presentations from scratch using only your browser.

Leading the way in this latter category is the excellent SPresent, a flash-based solution for authoring fantastic looking presentations online, without spending a cent. SPresent allows you to create presentations that look every bit as good as those made with PowerPoint, with the added benefit of being able to instantly share your slides online.

Earlier this week I reviewed the service in full over at Master New Media, and found it to be an excellent addition to any presenters' online toolkit. I have gathered here highlights of the alongside my screencast video, which takes you through the SPresent interface, and puts it through its paces.

In these five short clips I show you how you can:

SPresent is an incredibly well-featured web application capable of producing some breathtaking results, and a lot of attention has been spent on making both the interface and the options available to the user as easy and as functional as its desktop equivalents.

In the full review I discuss several of these powerful but intuitive features, which include:

  • Exactly how SPresent offers full desktop functionality in a web-based interface
  • The ease with which video and images can be browsed and embedded from directly within the SPresent interface
  • The extensive features - such as the ability to free draw directly onto your slides - that separate this product from its competitors
  • And more besides

In short, this is a powerful tool that I strongly urge you to try. If this has whet your appetite, be sure to take a look at the full review, in which I look at the full feature set of this impressive web presentation service.
