PowerPoint Is The Cherry On The Cake: TJ Walker Video
PowerPoint gets as much criticism as it does limelight in the world of presentations. We tell people we are preparing a PowerPoint presentation, or bemoan how boring a colleagues PowerPoint was earlier this afternoon. But PowerPoint done well should not be center stage - it should be the cherry on the cake.

So says public speaking and presentation expert TJ Walker of Speaking Channel TV. Too many of us put the cart before the horse and let PowerPoint take the lead. It's little wonder that PowerPoint takes so much flack out there in the presentation community.
But the flack, as we all know, is largely unfounded. PowerPoint doesn't make bad presentations - people make bad presentations, and all too often because they are far too reliant on the very tool they could be using with style and verve, but also with moderation.
In today's short tutorial video TJ talks you through exactly why PowerPoint shouldn't be the main course, buy rather a pleasant dessert. Here are the details:
TJ says:
''You're the main course. The PowerPoint is just a dessert.
Think of it this way - how often would you tell your friends or family, 'Hey, let's go to this new restaurant. Let's go all night long - it's a restaurant that's known for awful service, horrible appetizers, horrible main courses, but a good dessert.'
So next time you are ploughing all of your energy and time into perfecting that PowerPoint deck, ask yourself if you are going to focus also on the things that really matter - keeping your audience involved, interested and awake.
